MYWAGE SUPPORTS BAFANA KIDS SOCCER TEAM!
The Wage Indicator Foundation, operating as Mywage in Southern Africa, has sponsored a young, up-and-coming soccer team from Gugulethu in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Lucky Stars team, which features school-going boys, all received new kits and new footballs, while their coach received a special coach’s jacket. Robert Mxinwa, Chairman of the Lucky Stars, says “we are a real team and we can be proud of it!”
Currently, members of the team can be seen mingling with the “greats” of the soccer world in the VIP/Celebrities Pay section of the Mywage website, viewed at http://www.mywage.co.za/main/vip-celebrities-pay/soccer-players-mywage.org
Alongside the names of David Beckham, Michael Essien, Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo are Thulani Jeremiya, Asanda Manona, Bongani Timla and Lowabo Gula. And who knows – maybe in a few year’s time they will be amongst the top-earners in the beautiful game!
The Mywage sponsorship forms part of an initiative by bafanakids.org which gives companies and individuals the chance to sponsor South African township teams in the build up the 2010 FIFA World Cup. South Africa is the first African country to host the event – but many soccer players in the country battle to raise funds for soccer kits and accessories. The organisation facilitates sponsorships of township teams, enabling young players to wear proper kits and play with decent balls.
